Bread Basket serves the elderly, many of whom also have custody of their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Secondly, we assist the disabled, who are not able to work. Thirdly, we assist anyone who really needs help, including referrals from home health care agencies, M.H.M.R, and Health and Human Services.
Bread Basket serves families over 11,000 times with nearly a half a million pounds of food each year. Each family that comes to Bread Basket for food receives some canned foods, dry goods like rice or beans, cake mixes, cereals, chips, juice, and candy. They also receive refrigerated products like potato or macaroni salad, yogurt, butter, cheese, eggs, and meat products. Then they move on to our produce line to receive all the vegetables they can use. Finally, we load them down with bread, cakes, and other sweets available that day.
